As a Royal Knight of Solm, Merrin is a retainer to the Crown Princess Timerra. In Fire Emblem Engage, Merrin is described as having an “elegant” streak, and she always strives for “stylishness” in her daily life.

In a clip of her interactions with Timerra, Merrin describes their first meeting.

Merrin reflects on how she came to be a knight to Timerra. She says that she ran away from home because she refused to become the next chief of her village. Instead, she wished to become a knight. Timerra remarks that she must have been quite the tomboy, but Merrin responds that she wasn’t always this way, until she one day met a “true” tomboy riding a wolf one day. Timerra acknowledges that Merrin is referring to her.

True to her liege, Merrin begins Fire Emblem Engage as a Wolf Knight, a mounted class new to the series. Wolf Knights have high mobility and can dash around the battlefield using daggers to break up enemy formations.

Fire Emblem Engage launches on January 20, 2023 worldwide on the Nintendo Switch.
