Nintendo released more information on Lapis, a new character in the upcoming strategy game Fire Emblem Engage. Lapis is a royal soldier from the Kingdom of Brodia and is Prince Alcryst’s retainer. While she might look meek, she is the complete opposite, as she had to learn how to hunt in order to survive.
Lapis’s starting class is Myrmidon, a soldier that specializes in sword fighting. This means she excels at dodging enemy attacks and counterattacking with quick movements.

Lapis is friendly and kind, but she demonstrates a lack of confidence in one of her conversations with protagonist Alear. Her status as a commoner and as basic infantry apparently takes a toll on her self-esteem, as she has a hard time accepting compliments for her performance in battle. Lapis tells Alear that showing confidence would be akin to showing arrogance in front of people she considers more deserving than her. Alear tells Lapis that she is too hard on herself, and that other people’s strengths don’t change her own.

Tomoyo Takayanagi voices Lapis in the Japanese dub of Fire Emblem Engage. She is best known for her roles as Kokoro Utsubo in Blue Reflection: Second Light, Mikan Hinatsuki in The Demon Girl Next Door, and Mira Konohata in Asteroid in Love.
Fire Emblem Engage will come out worldwide on January 20, 2023 for the Nintendo Switch.
