The Fire Type in Honkai: Star Rail is a good type to have in your team due to its ability to inflict the Burn debuff. This guide will break down all the Fire characters in the game, as well as which ones you should invest in.
The Benefits of a Fire Character
Unlike Genshin Impact, Type combinations do not unlock new reactions. How “good” a Type is depends on the enemy’s Weakness or the Type’s Break Effect. Breaking an enemy with a Fire attack will cause them to get the Burn debuff, which is a DoT. Weakness Break from a Fire attack also has a 2 multiplier, meaning that you can deal quite a bit of damage when Breaking an enemy compared to other Types.
As for Burn, it has a multiplier of 1, which is the standard when it comes to DoTs. It also takes into account the Base Break DMG, so the higher your Fire character’s Break Effect, the better it is in the long run if you plan on using them for their Burn. This mostly affects characters like Asta and Guinaifen though, with Guinaifen in particular having a unique Burn-based DoT. Other Fire characters like Topaz and Himeko fill another niche in battle and Burn is not their highest priority.

Best Fire Characters in Honkai: Star Rail
Because the utility of a character takes Path into account slightly more than the Type, who is “best” really depends on your overall team and build. However, you won’t go wrong if you build Trailblazer or Asta. While the 5-star attackers like Himeko and Topaz are also really good, they’re easier to replace with similar options and sometimes might not work with your team. By virtue of their kits and Paths, Trailblazer and Asta are generalists who can mesh with most units in the game.
Trailblazer is an amazing Preservation unit despite being free. They also made it onto the recommended list of Physical characters to build. The Fire Trailblazer’s Taunt can help to protect your more vulnerable characters, and they also have a fairly strong offensive capability. This is in comparison with most other Preservation units, who focus almost entirely on either their shield or their Taunt.
Asta is a great support character for those who don’t have some of the premium Harmony units like Ruan Mei or Bronya. Even those who have those two characters might use Asta in challenges because of how useful her Ultimate. She is able to boost the SPD of your entire party, and her Skill is also very good at Breaking enemies. While Asta excels as a support, she also has the capacity to work as a makeshift sub-DPS thanks to her ability to Break and inflict Burn.
