Krool Toys and McDonald’s have opened up a website for a new game called Grimace’s Birthday, which re-introduces retro McDonald’s characters such as the titular Grimace himself. They released the game for, of course, Grimace’s birthday. The website has a very Y2K aesthetic. One of the fake ads has glittering front, the text uses Times New Roman, and there’s even a “Send this site for a friend” badge at the bottom.

Grimace’s Birthday is a pixel art, 2D, Game Boy Color game in which Grimace has to round up his friends for his birthday. He rides on a skateboard, and can jump and do tubular tricks. You also have to help him collect his special shakes, which he’ll give to his guests even though they weren’t there for him to blow out his candles. You can play this on both your PC or your smartphone.

The game features characters like Birdie, Hamburglar, and, of course, Grimace. They mostly disappeared from the public eye when Ronald McDonald did. The original reason was due to parents’ concerns over Ronald’s obvious kid appeal and the fact he was pushing unhealthy eating habits onto children.

Grimace’s Birthday is available via web browsers on PCs and mobile devices.
