Artist Masahiro Ito, creator of the design for Pyramid Head in Silent Hill 2, confirmed that he is not involved in the upcoming Return to Silent Hill movie. The artist reiterated on X (formerly Twitter) that he is working in the Silent Hill 2 remake, and shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming live-action movie.
In his original Japanese post, Ito said about Pyramid Head that he is honestly happy that the character he created almost a quarter of a century ago is still around. He also recounted an anecdote in which, at the time of sharing the design with the original Team Silent, their response wasn’t good, but the result turned out to be alright in the end.
The posts come as a response to the recent reveal of Pyramid Head’s design in the Return to Silent Hill live-action adaptation. Masahiro Ito also said that he had been told that the Return to Silent Hill movie is based on the plot of Silent Hill 2, so it makes sense for Pyramid Head to appear in the movie, even if the story is altered for the live-action.
The Return to Silent Hill movie was greenlit in October 2022, and Konami released a teaser trailer for the announcement. In it, Director Christophe Gans and Producer Victor Hadida explained that the film would be based on the plot of Silent Hill 2.
Return to Silent Hill started filming in April 2023 and it does not have a release date yet. The Silent Hill 2 remake is in development for PC and PS5, and Konami hasn’t given a release date.
