The villain I’m talking about is Big Wheel. The infamous character gets a prominent shout-out in the Coney Island level featured in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Players can see from the sky or the ground the massive Ferris wheel appropriately titled “Big Wheel.”

This clever Spider-Man 2 Easter Egg is a delightful reference for fans who appreciate Big Wheel’s odd place in the Spider-Man mythos. It’s proof of the enduring fascination with this character, who has taken on a life of his own these last few years.

Who is Big Wheel in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 deep cut Easter Egg?

Big Wheel is a supervillain in Marvel Comics who has mostly crossed paths with Spider-Man. He made his first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #182 in 1978. Big Wheel’s real name is Jackson Weele. He is a wealthy and corrupt businessman who turned to a life of crime. His distinctive feature is a … big wheel … that he uses as a weapon and mode of transportation. He received the Big Wheel device from The Tinkerer, who got the inspiration from his name … Weele.

Big Wheel’s peculiar appearance and unique method of transportation have made him a subject of fascination and amusement among fans. Undoubtedly, he has transcended his origins as a relatively minor character to become a meme within the Spider-Man community. Admittedly, His wheel and personality have made him a symbol of the more ridiculous elements of the superhero genre.

In fact, there was even a petition to get a Big Wheel Spider-Man 2 Easter Egg included in the first Marvel’s Spider-Man. The petition aimed to “achieve maximum Big Wheel for the gaming community and the Spider-Man community as a whole.” Although this effort didn’t lead to Big Wheel’s inclusion in the PlayStation exclusive, it unmistakably highlighted the character’s meme status.

While he may not have made it into the first game, the fact that Big Wheel is referenced in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 proves his continued presence in the minds of the Spider-Man community. Whether we’ll see him in future adaptations, only time will tell, but the legacy of Big Wheel as a cult figure within the Marvel mythos endures.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is now available exclusively for PS5.
