Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Trish And Super-Skrull Hands On

Capcom had a new build of Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds on display at Comic-Con and when I played it I went straight for Trish and Super-Skrull, two brand new characters to the series.

Trish from the Devil May Cry series introduces a totally different kind of style to Marvel vs. Capcom 3. She can summon lightning traps in the air and on the ground. Traps set in the air activate when another character unfortunately jumps into them. With all of the partner jumping, crossover air combo action, these traps are tough to see. They’re just a floating sphere of yellow bolts on the map. Ground traps are easier to spot. They look like a summoning circle. Think something like the screenshot above, but on the ground. Ground traps are triggered when a player jumps over them, so they’re an anti-air move.

Trish can also fire lightning bolts on the ground and diagonally when in the air. She can throw Sparda like a boomerang and use it to send an opponent flying with the launch button. Both of her super moves are horizontal attacks. One is a rapid fire lighting blast. The other is a multi-hit boomerang Sparda strike. One of Trish’s assist moves is shooting horizontal lightning bolts.

Why did Capcom put Trish in the game? “We thought we would put in a sexy character,” Ryota Niitsuma, Producer of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, explained. Niitsuma also confirmed the Fantastic Four will not be in the game. Marvel suggested to use Super-Skrull who has all four Fantastic Four powers instead.

All of those superhero powers gave Super-Skrull a varied set of attacks. He can teleport, summon a shield when blocking, and has a rapid fire stretchy punch. This powerful punch attack uses Thing’s rock hard fist plus Mr. Fantastic’s elasticity, which gives the move strength and range. Super-Skrull’s most useful attack is an elastic grab where he stretches his arm, grabs an opponent, and repeatedly slams him or her into the ground. Its possible to pick up and throw an opponent right after using this attack.

You can also teleport to get close and close with one of his two super moves. Super-Skrull, covered in flames from the Human Torch’s powers, can dive into an opponent Psylocke style. His other super move makes a growing fiery explosion around with Super-Skrull at the center of the supernova. It’s similar, but has more range than Storm’s thunderbolt super.

Niitsuma said every character in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will have their own ending in story mode. These endings will feature the entire library of Marvel and Capcom characters, even characters that aren’t playable like Ghost Rider. Yeah, Ghost Rider is out of Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
