“Lucky” (feat. UMI) uses sounds from the Pokemon series of games and is part of the Pokemon Music Collective project. The song itself is yet another collaborative work between the band Nulbarich and the producer Sunny. UMI, who is a Japanese-American artist who also worked on “wherever u r,” a new single by V of Korea’s BTS, sang for the song as a guest.

You can watch the Pokemon music video for “Lucky” (feat. UMI) here:

This video is the first time that MAPPA worked on something involving Pokemon. It features characters that draw inspiration from JQ (of Nulbarich), Sunny, and UMI. The Pokemon that appear in it are Chansey (Lucky in Japanese), Dragapult, and Empoleon, with other miscellaneous species. The video shows the Pokemon and human characters’ daily lives eating, battling, and changing together.

Comments from the artists focus on how happy they are to have worked together on this song. It samples the Pokemon Center music and Sunny states that he hopes the song can help people relax, serving as a balm much like how the Pokemon Center is a place to chill out. UMI also stated that this is a feel-good song that reminds her of how friends or time outside can help make a bad day a good one.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the latest mainline entry to the Pokemon series, is readily available on the Nintendo Switch.
