While they haven’t mentioned it for quite a while, one of the earliest Level 5 games announced for the Nintendo 3DS was Fantasy Life, a life simulation RPG co-developed with Brownie Brown, featuring art from Yoshitaka Amano and music from Nobuo Uematsu.

In Fantasy Life, you can take on jobs like miner, carpenter, tailor, chef, alchemist and more. This morning, Famitsu.com confirmed that Fantasy Life is on track for release this year, along with new screenshots of the game, showing off various professions, the day-to-night transition, and the town.

Fighting in Fantasy Life is supposed to be optional, with the game being more about “finding your own way of life,” according to Level 5. We got to try the game out last year, and you can read our hands-on impressions here.

Food for thought:

Fantasy Life appears to have undergone yet another change during its lengthy development process. The game was originally supposed to be for the Nintendo  DS and looked like this. Then, it was rebooted for 3DS and turned into this. Now, the final look Level 5 have chosen for the game is different yet again.
