Square Enix and Deck Nine announced Life is Strange: Double Exposure, a sequel to the original title with Max, at the June 2024 Xbox Games Showcase. It involves her solving another murder mystery and going between two timelines to do so on October 29, 2024 on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, with a Switch version also confirmed.
The first trailer for the game begins with Life is Strange returning protagonist Max saying she vowed to never use her powers again. However, after discovering her friend Safi’s dead body, she decides to use it to try and save her. In so doing, her abilities allow her to head into an alternate timeline where Safi is dead, but her life is in danger. By investigating and using her abilities, she may be able to save Safi in one timeline, discover what’s going on, and set things right in both.
Here’s how the game looks so far:
It’s notable that in this sequel, we only see Max. Chloe does not appear. She was the person Max was trying to save in the original Life is Strange. Chloe also was the star of the prequel Life is Strange: Before the Storm, which Deck Nine also developed.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure will come to the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on October 29, 2024. There’s no release window for the Switch version yet.
