A new animated short film for Level-5’s The Snack World cross-media project will debut alongside the third and newest Yo-kai Watch film on December 17th in Japan. [Thanks, AnimeNewsNetwork.]
The short film is titled “The Snack World: Hitogirai no Lenny” (The Snack World: Lenny the Misanthrope) and its chief director is Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino, who is also in charge of the short’s original concept and script. The presentation of this short mirrors last year wherein The Snack World made its official debut alongside the premiere of the second Yo-kai Watch movie.
The Snack World is described as a “hyper casual fantasy,” and the entire project will feature a game by Level-5 for the 3DS, iOS, and Android devices, as well as a manga series in Coro Coro and an anime debuting in April of next year. Though the setting of The Snack World is primarily a traditional fantasy world, it also features many modern conveniences such as smartphones.
The Snack World game is slated for an iOS and Android release in April 2017 while the 3DS version is scheduled for a July 2017 release date.
