Yo-kai Academy Y is an entirely new Yo-kai Watch spin-off that began with the December 13, 2019 movie Yo-kai Watch Jam the Movie: Yo-kai Academy Y – Can a Cat be a Hero? An anime continuing the story, called Yo-kai Academy Y: Encounter with N, began running on December 27, 2019.

In Yo-kai Academy, Jinpei and a group of his friends, which include Sandayuu Koma (Komasan), Fubuki Himekawa (Blizzaria), and Mera Raido (Blazion). As this is an alternate world, all of them are human. The school they attend is known for supernatural mysteries, which they’ll get to investigate firsthand with the YSP, a special sort of watch that allows them to fuse with Yo-kai. For example, Jinpei and Bakera come together to create the Yo-kai Hero Kengo Benimaru.
