The Legend of Legacy Trailer Reveals Even More Former Square Staff

FuRyu have released the first trailer for The Legend of Legacy, their upcoming Nintendo 3DS RPG. Curiously, the trailer has an English text describing some of the game’s story elements. It isn’t uncommon for Japanese publishers to do this, but it does make you wonder all the same, if FuRyu aren’t trying to drum up attention.

As previously reported, The Legend of Legacy is being developed by a number of former Squaresoft developers working in collaboration with one another. Designing the game is Kyoji Koizumi of the SaGa series. Background art is being handled by Misako Tsutsui (Secret of Mana), text direction is being handled by Masato Kato (Chrono Trigger) and the game’s music is being composed by Masashi Hamauzu (Final Fantasy XIII).

Judging by the end of the trailer, FuRyu are keen to show off the talent working on the game, too. Some of the ones that weren’t listed earlier pop up in the trailer, including:

Background Design: Masayo Asano (Lead Field Designer on Final Fantasy X)

Monster Design: Yuichiro Kojima (texturing on Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series)

Character Design: Ryo Hirao (Battle Motion on Final Fantasy XII)

The Legend of Legacy will feature some sort of free-form exploration system, whereby you won’t be tied down to a single story path and will be allowed to explore the island of Avalon, upon which the game takes place. More details can be found here.

The Legend of Legacy will be released on January 22nd, 2015 for 5,980 yen.
