Kunio-kun’s Three Kingdoms, much like other recent Kunio-kun releases, will feature a co-op mode. This allows multiple players to join in on the side-scrolling beat-em-up action. Unlike past releases like the Kunio-kun: The World Classics Collection, however, Three Kingdoms limits multiplayer to two players only.

As demonstrated by the two VTubers during the Arc System Works stream, players will be able to attack and hurt each other while playing in co-op mode. During the gameplay demo, we also got a brief glimpse at the quest hub town as well as a few of the enemies players will encounter. In one instance, Korone accidentally attacked a nobleman. This resulted in both players being defeated by the imperial guard.

Downtown Special: Kunio-kun’s Three Kingdoms – All Are Assembled! will launch for the Nintendo Switch in December 2021. Arc System Works will release the PlayStation 4 and PC versions in later in April 2022.
