Falcom revealed in this week’s issue of Dengeki PlayStation that Ryota Ibuki, who appeared as a buddy and classmate of protagonist Kou in Tokyo Xanadu, will be playable in Tokyo Xanadu eX+. [Thanks, Hachima.]

According to the magazine report, Ryota will fight using a wooden sword that is charged with spiritual energy. Since he isn’t qualified to use a Soul Device, he won’t be able to use ability enhancements like the other characters.

They say that his attack and defense is low, he won’t be able to use X-Strikes, and is overall a weak character, but there’s more to him than meets the eye…

Here are details on Ryota from Tokyo Xanadu:

Ryota is the 17-year-old friend that has been friends with Kou and close to Shiori since their elementary school days. He’s a very healthy young man who dreams of a rosy high school life. He’s part of the kendo club, but often skips it, since he prioritizes going out with friends.

He has a nice personality and is sociable, but he has a problem of not being able to find himself a girlfriend, since he ends up just being called a “good guy,” and it never goes further than that.

Tokyo Xanadu eX+ will release in Japan on September 8, 2016 for PlayStation 4.
