Over March 2020, various rumors were going around suggesting things like Silent Hills wasn’t dead, Sony was working to acquire the IP from Konami for games, and that Hideo Kojima, who was infamously involved with the P.T. Silent Hills project, would be working on a new game. However, Konami has confirmed that the rumors were all false. [Thanks, Rely on Horror!]

A Konami representative said the following about any Silent Hill reboot or revival rumors that had come up in March 2020 to Rely on Horror:

We’re aware of all the rumors and reports but can confirm that they are not true. I know it’s not the answer your fans may want to hear.

It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported.

The last time new Silent Hill games appeared were in 2012. Three different games appeared that year. That was when the new Silent Hill: Downpour for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the Silent Hill HD Collection that included Silent Hill 2 and 3 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and Silent Hill: Book of Memories for the PlayStation Vita were all released. These were followed by the P.T. playable teaser released at gamescom 2014, which was designed to showcase the upcoming Kojima and Guillermo del Toro Silent Hills game starring Norman Reedus. It was canceled in 2015.
