In case you missed them on the initial list of third-party Nintendo 3DS games that Nintendo released at E3, both Contra and Frogger are part of Konami’s 3DS plans, in addition to Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D.
While no details of these titles have been released yet, Konami announced today that Snake Eater, Contra, Frogger, and a new Pro Evolution Soccer game will be their first releases on the system. The only game from their initial list that Konami haven’t officially announced yet is a baseball title.
Coincidentally, the only platform Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 (pictured above) isn’t on is the Nintendo DS. Konami recently released the game under its original title, World Soccer Winning Eleven 2011, in Japan.
In addition, Konami are also the publisher of a new Asphalt game in Japan.
“We are delighted to confirm that Konami has four major titles in development for Nintendo’s 3DS system,” said Kunio Neo, President of Konami in Europe. “The chance to explore popular franchises such as Metal Gear Solid, Pro Evolution Soccer, Contra and Frogger within a 3D realm is an exciting opportunity, and we cannot wait to share more news in the coming months.”
Food for thought:
This isn’t Konami’s first attempt at bringing Contra into 3D. Back in 2006, they released Contra: Legacy of War for the PlayStation and Sega Saturn, and the game came with a pair of 3D glasses. Heres a screenshot:
