A number of manga handled by Kodansha won’t be available in English on Crunchyroll after January 31, 2023. The company announced 16 series are being removed from the service. Among the titles leaving are series like Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card, Edens Zero, Fairy Tail, and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensura). Kodansha’s statement didn’t offer any exact details about why, but hinted it has independent simulpub plans. [Thanks, Crunchyroll!]
Kodansha’s statement noted “in the coming months” it will bring up new manga simulpub plans. In the meantime, people were directed to purchase volumes of the series leaving Crunchyroll. In addition to physical copies, people can buy digital ones via sources like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and INKR.
