Kinect Adds Metroid Prime-like Scan Feature To Halo Remake

Recommended Videos

Microsoft’s remake of Halo, titled Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition, will be compatible with the Kinect when it releases. One of the uses of Kinect in the game is a Metroid Prime-like scan feature.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition has something called an Analyze mode. Once you go into Analyze mode, you can scan items of interest within the game to add to the library, which is an encyclopedia of Halo lore. You can scan by focusing the reticule on an object and saying “scan” out loud.

Microsoft say Analyze mode is a Kinect-exclusive feature, which sounds like you won’t be able to use it if you don’t have a Kinect. The library is navigated using hand gestures, too, and contains information on vehicles, characters, weapons and items.

Another Kinect feature is the addition voice commands. You can use voice commands to reload weapons, chuck grenades, and — this one sounds kind of cool — switch between Classic and Re-mastered visuals on the fly.
