Kenshi Yonezu Performs Final Fantasy XVI Main Theme Song

At the end of the April 2023 State of Play, Producer Naoki Yoshida revealed a fun detail about Square Enix’s next Final Fantasy game. Kenshi “Hachi” Yonezu both wrote and performed the Final Fantasy XVI main theme song. Square Enix also shared a sample of the song following the presentation. It is called “Tsuki Wo Miteita – Moongazing.”

Here’s the teaser for Kenshi Yonezu’s Final Fantasy XVI theme song “Tsuki Wo Miteita – Moongazing.”

Yonezu’s music is famous worldwide, due to its usage in other media. He’s behind the Chainsaw Man opening theme “Kick Back,” as well as the My Hero Academia one “Peace Sign.” Under the name Hachi, he acted as a Vocaloid song producer. Some of his songs include the Hatsune Miku track “World’s End Umbrella” and the Gumi one “Panda Hero.”

At the end of the State of Play, Yoshida also confirmed more Final Fantasy XVI news is coming. He specifically cited additional gameplay reveals and noted that future announcements will discuss endgame content.

Final Fantasy XVI will be available for the PS5 on June 22, 2023.
