Jiangshi X Becomes Shonen Jump’s New Manga Series

The first new Shonen Jump manga series of 2023 appeared, as Jiangshi X is here. The first chapter launched on January 22, 2023. As is typical for series showing up weekly, Manga Plus and Viz Media are localizing new installments as they arrive.

Jiangshi X is the latest work from mangaka Norihiko Kurazono, whose past series include Automaton, Chitei Ryokou, and Mahou Gyoushounin Roma. The manga begins with a teaser suggesting that due to the world’s balance being broken, darkness took over. However, there is still hope. It then introduces Daoshi, an apprentice monk, hunting jiangshi alongside allies Chaoyun and Jiuli outside of Shenxian Village. There are many expectations for Xiaohu, as his father is the renowned Dadaoshi Master Monk Longhu Xuanshui. The first chapter follows as the three young men take on their final test to become a Daoshi. However, the path to their goal isn’t clear or guaranteed.

While this is the first new Shonen Jump manga of 2023, 2022 closed out with four being added.  Cipher Academy, Fabricant 100, Ichigoki’s Under Control, and The Ichinose Family’s Deadly Sins.

Jiangshi X is now available in Shonen Jump, with the new manga’s second chapter appearing on January 29, 2023.
