In many Final Fantasy games, we’ll see couples and pairings, such as Cecil and Rosa in Final Fantasy IV and Squall and Rinoa in Final Fantasy VIII. In Final Fantasy VII and Rebirth, we know there’s a date scene at the Gold Saucer, but people may also be curious as to whether or not there is any real romance present between characters or possible love interests. The answer might surprise people.
Is there any romance with love interests in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth?
Editor’s Note: There will be spoilers for the game below.
Throughout Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, there’s a lot of teasing! Aerith will say her and Cloud’s time visiting the clocktower in Kalm was a date and say so in front of everyone. There will be many times in town when Cloud will get a chance to talk to Aerith, Barret, Red XIII, Tifa, and Yuffie, and the responses can change relationship parameters. Taking part in sidequests can improve ties with a supporting party member who is also along for the ride for story-reasons. Not to mention the Synergy Abilities also boost relationships when used for the first time.
All of those elements lead up to influence who goes on the date with Cloud in Chapter 12 of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which can have a bit of romance to it. However, the degree of affection shown depends on who he’s with and how well the date goes due to relationship values.
If Cloud ends up on the date with Tifa at the Gold Saucer in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, it will be treated as a real and proper date. So if you’re looking for love, try and get close to her throughout the game. Aerith’s date will have some romantic elements, but it will probably break your heart instead. Lifewise, Yuffie’s involves some clear affection between the characters. However, Tifa is the way to go if you want warm fuzzies.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is available on the PS5, with the exclusivity arrangement ending on May 29, 2024.
