Diablo 4 is coming to Steam for PC users, meaning players will no longer have to deal with the Activision Blizzard Battle.net platform if they don’t want to for the always-online RPG. But will it run on Steam Deck? Here’s what you need to know about whether it is possible to play Diablo 4 on Steam Deck and whether it has Verified status or not.

Fortunately, Diablo 4 is Verified for Steam Deck ahead of its release on the platform on October 17, 2023. This means that any Steam Deck user can pick up the game, and it should run pretty well. While it may not look as fantastic as it does on beefier hardware, it will at least run well enough for players to have fun.

How to play Diablo 4 on Steam Deck without Steam

Of course, Diablo 4 is already available on PC through Battle.net. If you own the game there, you may want to play it on Steam Deck without purchasing it again on Steam. There are a couple of ways to do so, starting with remote play. If you purchased the game on a console, such as Xbox or PlayStation, you can stream the game directly to your Steam Deck.

Alternatively, if you own it on Battle.net, it is possible to play natively on Steam Deck. Follow the below steps to do so:

  • Go to the “Power” section in the main menu of the Steam Deck.
  • Switch to Desktop Mode.
  • Go to the Linux App Store.
  • Search for Lutris and download it.
  • Open up Steam and add Lutris to it.
  • Open Lutris, select Battle.net, and log into your account or create one.
  • From here, you can download and play Diablo 4.

I used this method when the game was first released to play through the main story, and I had a good time. The graphics aren’t as detailed as the other platforms, but you can play pretty smoothly on medium settings this way.

Diablo 4 is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
