Blue Protocol is an upcoming fantasy online multiplayer action RPG from Bandai Namco and Amazon Games, and yes, it is free to play. It sees you dive into Regnas, a world on the verge of total destruction and is already live in Japan. Once it appears worldwide, it will still be free.

Will Blue Protocol be free or will I have to buy something?

Bandai Namco confirmed that Blue Protocol will indeed be free to play when it launches globally in 2024 on the PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. That said, it will feature an optional gacha system, similar to other anime-style online multiplayer titles such as Genshin Impact, for example.

Outside of Japan, Blue Protocol will be available in the following regions:

  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • North America.
  • South America.
  • Western Europe

Will Blue Protocol get a free beta test?

There is a Closed Beta Test scheduled for sometime in 2023, though an exact date hasn’t been set yet. You can sign up on the official Blue Protocol website to be informed when Amazon Games and Bandai Namco reveal when it will take place.

Note that if you participate in the Closed Beta Test, your progress will not carry over to the full game when the retail version of the game when it launches.

Blue Protocol will release globally sometime in 2024 on the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. It is available in Japan now on PCs.
