Is Baldur’s Gate 3 Worth the Price Tag?
To start, Baldur’s Gate 3 is the third game in a massive computer RPG series set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe. It is available for modern systems, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It costs $69.99 for the console versions and $59.99 for the base version on Steam.
That hefty price tag may have some people wondering if the award-winning RPG is worth the price of admission. I would say it is 100% worth the price. In fact, I would argue it is more worth the price than most other games around that price tag with its three acts, hundreds of hours of possible playtime, and vast replayability with the different choices and the like. If price alone is your concern, I would say it is worth a buy.
Is Baldur’s Gate 3 Worth Buying for newcomers to the RPG genre?
The bigger question is whether Baldur’s Gate 3 is worth purchasing for newcomers to this universe, series, and RPGs. For me, personally, I barely dabbled some with the Dark Alliance games back in the day but only for a few hours. I was never interested in the first two games and enjoyed BG3. You can come into this game without any prior knowledge of the series and have a great time.
However, if you are new to RPGs, it is a bit of a different story. This is very much one of the deepest RPGs to release in years. Everything you do, from picking your classes to leveling up to even finding a random prisoner, has depth, choice, and options. It can be a bit overwhelming for someone new to the role-playing game genre, so I would recommend watching some videos online first of the game. Get an idea of what it is before committing unless you have friends to play it online with.
