Inti Creates Are Also Working On A PlayStation Title

Azure Striker Gunvolt and Mighty No. 9 developer Inti Creates are known primarily for creating 2D games, but the studio has actually worked on a few 3D titles—two of which date back to the PlayStation One era.

Back in those days, Inti Creates worked on games like Speed Power Gunbike (above) and Love & Destroy. I recently asked CEO Takuya Aizu if the studio will produce any more 3D games in addition to its flagship 2D titles.

“As you’ve said, the representative works of Inti Creates are mainly 2D games,” Aizu replied. “But we have been developing 3D games, too. We’re preparing original 3D games, so please do look forward to that.”

I asked if Aizu could provide any further details on this front, and he replied, “Inti Creates, in cooperation with another company, are currently producing one 3D title. This title is being developed for a PlayStation format. Since we’ve yet to announce it, I can’t say much more.”

While Gunvolt is a self-funded and self-published game, and Mighty No. 9 is being funded via Kickstarter and published by Comcept, Inti Creates do work on titles for other publishers as well. For example, they were involved with GalGun and with Naruto SD Powerful Shippuden for Bandai Namco.

Of course, Inti Creates do intend to pursue more self-funded and self-published projects in the future. In addition to Gunvolt, one other such project is in development and more information on it will be shared after the Tokyo Game Show this year.
