Bandai Namco revealed MIRAIKEN Studio, a new studio utilizing new technology like XR (cross reality) and real-time motion capture. Located at the Bandai Namco Future Research Center in Tokyo, Japan, this studio will host the upcoming broadcast for The Idolmaster: Cinderella Girls. [Thanks, Game Watch!]
Miraiken Studio is comprised of two separate studios. The A studio has a stage surrounded by LED screens. Bandai Namco’s LEDxR system will make it look like the real-life artists are performing in the virtual space. The stage can also project 3D models based on motion-capture actors who perform at the other B studio. People can also use the B studio for other purposes, such as still photography and radio shows.
Bandai Namco held an opening ceremony for Miraiken Studio on May 26, 2021. It was available exclusively as a livestream on YouTube, and the video is currently set to private. The ceremony featured Luna Sea and X Japan’s guitarist Sugizo performing with a Gundam backdrop. It also had a real-time motion capture demonstration with Haruka Amami’s model from the original Idolmaster.
The Idolmaster: Cinderella Girls‘ next live announcement broadcast will take place at Miraiken Studio on May 27, 2021, at 18:30 JST (05:30 AM ET). You will also be able to watch a portion of the broadcast on YouTube.
