Leather is a common crafting item in Palworld that becomes important fairly early on. However, it’s not obvious where you can obtain it, despite how often it’s used.

What is Leather used for in Palworld?

Leather is used for a range of crafting projects and becomes valuable as you start to build up your base and improve your equipment. Leather is an essential material in most outfits and armors above the basic outfits. The Pelt Armor is made exclusively from Leather, for example.

Leather is also used for a lot of Pal-specific projects. This is because so many of these projects are harnesses or saddles that would be made of leather in the real world. In addition, all Feed Bags use Leather as a key material.

Where can I find Leather in Palworld?

Leather is a drop for defeating or catching certain Pals within Palworld. Different Pals will drop different materials when fought, but while some are specific to that Pal, others will simply drop common items like Leather.

Some early Pals you can obtain Leather from include:

  • Direhowl
  • Eikthyrdeer
  • Foxparks
  • Fuack
  • Melpaca
  • Rushoar
  • Vixy

If you’re looking for a good spot to farm Leather, there are two good spots. The area around Rayne Syndicate Tower often spawns Foxparks, Melpaca and Eikthyrdeer. Foxparks are the easiest to capture, so they’re worth focusing on where possible. In addition, the hills near the Small Settlement are also useful because Rushoar and Direhowl tend to spawn here. They will also attack on sight so chances are they might find you first.

You can also find Leather on the ground, much like Wood and Stone, in certain areas. However, I couldn’t get it to appear consistently in one place. Due to how random these drops are, it’s better to focus on hunting Pals that drop it instead.

Palworld is out now in Early Access for the PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
