Humble COVID-19 Bundle Raises Nearly $4 Million for Charity

Humble COVID-19 Bundle

If you’ve been thinking of giving to charity, relief from the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is as good a cause as any. But there’s no reason you can’t benefit a little as well sometimes. Humble has that part covered with its Humble COVID-19 Bundle. Players seem to be responding as well. With four days remaining on its timer, the bundle has already raised almost $4 million for various charities.

The bundle, available on the Humble Bundle website until April 8, 2020, features more than $1,000 worth of games and ebooks. Unlike the typical bundle structure, which allows buyers to “pay what they want,” the Humble COVID-19 Bundle has a fixed price of about USD $30. However, 100% of proceeds from purchases will go to organizations responding to the pandemic. That’s a change from the usual strategy of dividing up the proceeds between publishers, charities, and Humble itself. As for the organizations being supported, proceeds will go to Direct Relief, the International Rescue Committee, Doctors Without Borders, and Partners in Health.

As what people are buying, the games range from legendary to merely pretty good. Notable offers include indie sensations like Undertale, Hollow Knight, SUPERHOT, Into the Breach, and Super Hexagon. A smaller number of more traditional games are also present, like Volition’s Agents of Mayhem, Double Fine’s Psychonauts and Brutal Legend, and Tropico 4. Even art programs more commonly associated with VR like Google’s Tilt Brush are in the Humble COVID-19 Bundle.

The ebook selection is a bit more eclectic. For example, the self-help book The Mood Elevator shares space with manga like Fairy Tail, comic collections like Saga and Spawn, and learning books like Automate the Boring Stuff with Python.

The Humble COVID-19  bundle also throws in access to the EDM Edition of the Music Maker software, and a free one-month subscription to Humble’s Humble Choice program, a Game Pass-like subscription service.

The Humble COVID-19 Bundle will be available until April 8, 2020.
