HoYoVerse’s latest Zenless Zone Zero gameplay announcement went over what to expect from combat and character movesets. Each person can use a Basic Attack, Special Attack, and Ultimate.

This means that the combat movesets for characters in Zenless Zone Zero could make the gameplay feel similar to Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd. The Basic Attack can hit once or chain into a combo. The Special Attack could be equivalent to a Genshin Impact Elemental Skill or Skill. Here, accruing Energy could also let you charge that up to an EX Special Attack. The Ultimate will be the equivalent of, say, an Elemental Burst or Ultimate. You can only use one when you build up the Decibel Rating by using Basic Attacks, Special Attacks, and other kinds of moves.

There are also two sorts of moves that all characters can use. One is the Dodge. Perfect Dodge and Dodge Counters are possible, with timing and using a Basic Attack triggering the Dodge Counter.

There are also Chain Attacks. These only happen if you hit an enemy enough to max out its Daze meter, stunning them. When you hit that stunned enemy with a heavy attack like a Special Attack, that will allow you to use additional characters in your party to hit and damage the enemy. You can also switch between allies, known in the game as Agents, at any time either by manually doing so or switching when another one is hit to essentially counter with an Assist Attack.

Zenless Zone Zero is in development for PCs, mobile devices, and consoles, and people can register now for the second closed beta test.
