What to do with Skill Cards in Persona 3 Reload

If you are confused about how to use Skill Cards, you are not alone! While you are rewarded with the items pretty early in Persona 3 Reload, the game doesn’t give you a detailed tutorial on how to actually use them. I spent a couple of hours building up a deck of my Skill Cards before realizing how they work.

In Persona 3 Reload, Skill cards can be redeemed to teach your Persona new moves. Thankfully, using them is fairly straightforward once you know how. Below are the steps you need to take to use your skill cards:

  • Pause your game and select the Item menu.
  • Using the shoulder buttons on your controller, scroll through your options until you reach the Skill Cards Menu.
  • Click on the Skill Card you want to use, then select the Persona you want to learn the move.
  • If your Persona doesn’t have an empty move slot, you must select a move to forget.

How to get Skill Cards

The main way you get Skill Cards in Persona 3 Reload is by earning a “shuffle” after defeating enemies in battle while exploring Tartarus. You can increase your chances of getting a shuffle by earning “one more times” in battle.

In Persona 3 Reload, one more time is when your character gets to attack two times in a row after landing a critical hit or inflicting an enemy’s weakness. If you trigger a shuffle after battle, you will have a random chance of getting a Skill Card. You can tell what a Skill Card is as they feature red swords.

Once you have obtained a Skill Card, you can use it any time in the Item menu. Teaching your Persona new moves can be the difference between life and death in the early game. For example, some of the shadows on the starting floors don’t have Zio. Yet, one of the first bosses you fight in the campaign is weak to electric attacks. Knowing how to use Skill Cards can turn the tides in battle.

Persona 3 Reload is available on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S.
