Items collected throughout your Diablo IV adventure come in all shapes, forms, and states. Today, we will talk about a very particular one, which is the Rusted Key. Many have encountered this item randomly appearing in their inventory. Moreover, it feels as if a ghost left it there just for laughs. Not only that, but it is impossible to sell. Here’s what the Rusted Key does and how you should use it in Diablo IV.

So, What’s up With Diablo IV’s Rusted Key?

While you might think this is a quite useless item, it can actually be used to access a dungeon and face a boss. The Rusted Key belongs to the Belfry Zakara dungeon, located on the easternmost side of Hawezar in Diablo IV. After advancing through the dungeon, you will eventually have to defeat the Anchorbound Captain. He is the one carrying the Rusted Key, which will drop after you defeat him. Use this Rusted Key to progress through the Dungeon and face the final boss.

So, why do many players wonder what is the Rusted Key in Diablo IV? Many have reported that the Rusted Key has remained in their Quest inventory, even after using it at the Belfry Zakara dungeon. Of course, almost no one will remember where they got an item as irrelevantly named as “Rusted Key,” especially if they follow up with hours and hours of endless grinding. This is a bug that Blizzard has yet to address and fix.

For now, all you have to do is carry the Rusted Key with you. No, there’s no hidden treasure, ending, or unlockable Smash character that the Rusted Key will unlock, it has already fulfilled its purpose. (And please, let Sakurai get some sleep, he deserves it.)

Diablo IV is available on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.
