Every barn in Fae Farm automatically has a feeding trough in it. However, you only can place one piece of feed in a spot for each currently registered animal. So if you want more of a failsafe so you can ignore livestock for a while to work on quests, you need to upgrade each one to hold more feed.
How to Upgrade Every Feeding Trough in Fae Farm
Basically, it all comes down to money. You need 1,500 Florins to go from the standard version to a better one. There’s only one upgrade available for each one. Also, the people who sell the animals who live in the barn for that trough will be the ones selling the upgrade. So you’ll go to the Reyglor for the Lunen and Spriggan trough upgrade, Earline for the chickoo and cottontail one, and Jeremiah for the Mamoo and Woolyhorn one.

What does an upgraded Feeding Trough do?
Okay, so ideally you should just have your Fae Farm animals outside all the time. I’ve found they’ll do this on their own typically so long as it’s pleasant and not raining. This fills their fresh air and food requirements, so long as you have grass or clover nearby for them.
However if there is bad weather and you have an upgraded trough, you can stockpile feed for them. Paying for the upgrade lets you place ten in a spot for each animal.
