One of the most powerful job classes in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is Warfarer, as it allows you to equip any weapon in the game and switch between all Vocations with the click of a button. This guide will explain how to unlock the Warfarer Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Where to find Warfarer location in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Before we kick this off, it needs to be said that Warfarer in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is locked behind a late-game quest. So, players wanting to select this Vocation at the start of the game are going to have to progress quite a bit into the game’s world before they can learn it. However, the job class is definitely worth the hurdles to obtain it, as it literally allows your Arisen to swap between any Vocation on the fly during battle.
Warfarer is unlocked in Dragon’s Dogma 2 by completing “The Sotted Sage” quest in the Volcanic Island Camp southeast of Battahl. After you pass through Drabnirs Grotto, you will eventually find yourself at the makeshift camp. At the very top of the Volcanic Island village is the Geyser Hamlet Hot Springs, where an NPC named Lamond is sitting by the front desk. Speak to him and offer him 1 Newt Liqueur to trigger the “The Sotted Sage” quest. However, you will need a total of 3 Newt Liqueur from Higgs Tavern Stand in Bakbattahl to complete this quest, which we’ll explain further below.
For your convenience, we have provided a map below that shows you the exact location of the Warfarer Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2:
How to Learn Warfarer Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2
To unlock Warfarer in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you must deliver 3 Newt Liqueur bottles to Lamond in the Volcanic Island Camp Hot Springs. This is easier said than done, as actually obtaining the alcohol is fairly convoluted. However, we’ve already managed to figure out the entire process, so we’ve got you covered!
Below are the steps you need to take to learn Warfarer in Dragon’s Dogma 2:
- You can purchase a Beastren Mask from Ibrahim’s Scrap Store in Rest Town or from the wandering merchant Georg. The Beastren seller can be found outside the Mercantile Ward of Bakbattahl or near the Battahl Pawn Guild on the road leading into the city.
- Equip the Beastren Mask and walk through Bakbatthal until you reach the Residential Ward.
- Once here, locate “Higgs Tavern Stand” in the northern tip of the Residential Ward.
- Outside of Higgs Tavern Stand is a pile of sandbags. Press “R2” (PlayStation) or “RT” (Xbox) to pick it up. Walk the sandbag over to the open farm pen nearby and drop it down near the pile of hay.
- A cutscene will then trigger, and you will be taken upstairs to Higgs Tavern, where you can now buy rare liqueur.
- Purchase 3 Newt Liqueur Bottles from Ezekiel.
- Now that you have the 3 Newt Liqueur, take the west exit of Bakbatthal and head southeast until you reach Drabnirs Grotto.
- Pass through Drabnirs Grotto, and continue walking east until you reach the Volcanic Island Camp.
- Use the wooden plank ramps throughout the camp and climb to the top of the village to reach the hot springs, where you will find the NPC Lamond at the front desk.
- Give Lamond the 3 Newt Liqueur to complete “The Sotted Sage” quest.
- Lamond will automatically teach you the Warfarer Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2 for completing “The Sotted Sage” quest.
Where to find Beastren Mask location in Dragon’s Dogma 2
The first step can be skipped if you made your Arisen a Beastren at the start of the game. However, if your main character is a human, then you will need to track down the Beastren Mask. Thankfully, there are two locations where you can easily purchase this mask. If you are already in Bakbatthal, look for a wandering Beastren Merchant named Georg.
I was able to find him near the Batthal Pawn Guild on the road leading into the city. But I’ve also seen him walking around the front entrance of the Batthal Mercantile Ward as well. Here is a map of the two locations I was able to find Georg. However, if you can’t find him, then keep reading below, as there is another location where you can purchase the quest item.
The easiest place to purchase a Beastren Mask in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is at Ibrahim’s Scrap Store in Rest Town. You can find his shop tucked in a corner directly behind the Inn and Vocation Guild. His store can also be found on your map as a Paper and Quill icon while in Rest Town.
Simply approach the Rest Town vendor and ask to see his wares. The Beastren Mask can be purchased for 8,700 Gold at Ibrahim’s Scrap Store. If you haven’t already visited Ibrahim before, this is also where you can go to get the Jadeite Orb in Dragon’s Dogma 2, which is tied to another quest.
Where to find Newt Liqueur in Dragon’s Dogma 2
The trickiest step in “The Sotted Sage” quest is obtaining Newt Liqueur. That is because the rare spirits can only be purchased by Beastren at a hidden shop in Bakbatthal called Higgs Taverns Stand. However, now that we’ve obtained the Beastern Mask, all we have to do is travel to this hidden shop.
Walk through the center of Bakbatthal city, and make your way north until you reach the Residential Ward. In the northernmost tip of the Ward, you will find a marker on your map that says “Higgs Tavern Stand.” Because it’s not clearly marked like other Inns, here is a map showing the exact location where you can get Newt Liqueur in Dragon’s Dogma 2:
Once you arrive at Higgs Tavern Stand, look for the pile of sandbags outside of his shop. Equip your Beastren Mask, walk over to the sandbag, and press “R2” (PlayStation) or RT (Xbox) to pick it up. Finally, walk the Sandbag over and place it inside the open farm pen near the pile of hay that is just outside of Higgs Tavern. Yeah, don’t ask me. I have no idea why “this” is what we need to do in order to purchase alcohol. But it is.
Once you drop the Sandbag, a cutscene will play out, and a Beastren will shout at you, “what are you doing?” You will then be taken upstairs to Higgs Tavern, where you can now purchase Newt Liqueur from an NPC named Ezekiel. It’s important that you purchase 3 Newt Liqueur bottles at Higgs Tavern, as you need all of them in order to unlock Warfarer in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Now that we have the 3 Newt Liqueur bottles, it’s time to travel south of Batthal and make your way through Drabnirs Grotto. Keep traveling east until you reach the makeshift Volcanic Island Camp. As stated in the above section, you will find an NPC named Lamond near the Hot Springs at the top of the camp.
Approach him, and he will start talking to you. Ignore the other dialogue option and choose the last one, “Offer him some Newt Liqueur.” Doing this will trigger “The Sotted Sage” quest. Lamond will then thank you and hint that he wants you to provide him with more spirits.
Normally, you are supposed to go out and find the rare alcohol, but we already have it! So keep talking to him, and hand Lamond 1 Newt Liqueur bottle at a time until you’ve given him all three of the items. After you hand over the third Newt Liqueur, “The Sotted Sage” quest will automatically be completed. As a reward, Lamond will automatically teach you the Warfarer Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warfarer Skills
Unlike other job classes in Dragon’s Dogma 2, Warfarer doesn’t really rely on its own skills, as the entire gimmick of it is that you can swap to all other Vocations. What this means is that you can technically assign any skills you’ve unlocked from every other Vocation in the game.
However, the main Warfarer Skill that is important in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is “Rearmament”. The skill allows you to switch to a different weapon in combat with a click of a button. You are given Rearmament from Lamond after unlocking the Warfarer Vocation. Simply use the “Grandmaster’s Plan” scroll to obtain it.
The way Rearmament works in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the Warfarer Vocation is given an expanded weapons menu. Here, you can select a group of weapons that you want to cycle through in battle. After using the Grandmaster’s Plan scroll given by Lamond, you can now use the Rearmament skill to instantly swap to a new weapon in the middle of battle.
The best part about the Warfarer Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is that you technically have access to every skill in the game. As long as you unlock and level up other Vocations, you can carry over those skills and progress to Warfarer. I look at the Vocation as an end-game role that ties together all of your character’s progress.
While you are unlocking Warfarer, why not also learn Magick Archer? The powerful magic-infused ranged-class can actually be learned in the same area. Four a full break down on that, check out our How to Unlock Magick Archer Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2 guide.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
