The Dying Gasp is part of the Main Scenario Quests in Final Fantasy XIV, and it marks the end of the first part of the Shadowbringers expansion. This guide breaks down how you can unlock The Dying Gasp and its Extreme version in FFXIV Shadowbringers.
How to Unlock The Dying Gasp in FFXIV: Shadowbringers
Part of the Main Scenario Quest and the one that wraps up the first part of the Shadowbringers expansion, this Trial is impossible to miss. This is the second to last Trial that is part of the Main Scenario and required to complete to progress the story. Once you obtain the quest “A Greater Purpose” and complete it, pick up the quest “Shadowbringers” at X:16.5, Y:30.4 in The Tempest. Unlike The Dancing Plague and The Crown of the Immaculate, The Dying Gasp will require you to be Item Level 410 in order to access the Trial. Thankfully, upon hitting Level 80 you will be given a coffer of Gear containing Item Level 410 Armor and Weapons according to your Job Class.
The requirements for unlocking The Dying Gasp are as follows:
- Complete “A Greater Purpose”
- Level 80
- Item Level 410
How to Unlock The Minstrel’s Ballad: Hades’s Elegy in FFXIV: Shadowbringers
Players will be able to unlock The Minstrel’s Ballad: Hades’s Elegy (Extreme) in a manner similar to how The Dancing Plague (Extreme) and The Crown of the Immaculate (Extreme) is unlocked. Keep in mind it has a different name and is not visibly marked as being “Extreme.” This is similar to how the Thordan and Nidhogg fights are labeled in Heavensward. Once you have completed the Main Scenario Quest “Shadowbringers” and reach Level 80, go to The Crystarium and talk to the Minstreling Wanderer at X:7.5, Y:12.5. Accept the quest “Minstrel from Another Mother.” This will unlock The Minstrel’s Ballad: Hades’s Elegy (Extreme). You can check the requirements for entering this Extreme Trial below.
- Complete “Minstrel from Another Mother”
- Level 80
- Item level 450
These are the rewards you can obtain from The Minstrel’s Ballad: Hades’s Elegy:
- Hades Triple Triad Card
- (1) Hades Specific Weapon
- Shadow Gwiber Trumpet
- 20 Tomestones of Poetics
