There are four secret secondary jobs in Octopath Traveler 2, but odds are the Armsmaster and the Inventor are the only two you’ll be getting before the second half of the game. While you can get the Inventory very quickly and easily, there are some hoops to jump through for the Armsmaster. However, by the time you do get to Gravell to meet Porta, you’ll probably be ready to pick up this extra roll.
First, when you get to Gravell, you’ll find a man blocking one home’s door. This is a debt collector. If Throne is around and is at level 30 or higher, she can ambush him at night to gain access to the place.
This is Porta the blacksmith’s home. Now, when I got here, I’d already completed the Winterbloom side story “The Sword in the Stone.” This meant when I got to Gravell and met Porta, he right away recognized the Rusty Sword, told me about Armsmasters, and ended up giving me both Proof of the Armsmaster and Conqueror’s Sword. As such, I’m not sure if having one of the rusty weapons before you meet Porta is a prerequisite to the quest. However, since that’s an easy side story, I’d recommend doing so first.
Once you’ve talked to him, you’ll get the new secondary Armsmaster job for one of your Octopath Traveler 2 characters to equip and the new side story “In Search of the Divine Weapons.” This involves collecting six rusty weapons, which adds to the role’s abilities.
Octopath Traveler 2 is available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC. A demo is available.
