How Do the Mine Cart Puzzles Work in Neptunia Game Maker R:Evolution?

The mine cart is used to transport various crystals to furnaces within Twin Volcano Island in Neptunia Game Maker R:Evolution. Each crystal placed into a furnace will cause a gate of the same color to open somewhere nearby.

The initial mine cart puzzle is an easy introduction to this concept. Push the mine cart from the burner to the crystal at the other end of the track. This can be done with a single button press. Head to the crystal and inspect it to fill the mine cart, then push the cart back. Now inspect the furnace, and the crystals will be added, and the gate right next to it will open.

How to Solve the Second Mine Cart Puzzle

Once you’re through the previous gate, there are two gates to open to the right (west) of where you enter. There are also two colored crystals corresponding to each gate. The solution here is much the same as the first puzzle. However, one route is optional.

If you’re looking to get your map exploration up to 100%, burn the blue crystal, which opens the north gate. Once you’ve explored this area, or if you want to get on with the story, place the green crystal into the furnace instead to open the south gate to progress.

How to Solve the Third Mine Cart Puzzle

The third mine cart puzzle in Neptunia Game Maker R:Evolution is much trickier, taking up the entire second portion of Twin Volcano Island. This time, you have three colored crystals, and the gates are scattered around the dungeon. There are also additional red gates, which can only be opened with switches. Here is the quick route to opening the path to the exit.

First, place the yellow crystal into the mine cart and move it back to the furnace. This opens a path at the top of the nearby ladder. Following this path leads to a blue gate. Since you can’t open the yellow and blue gates at the same time, this requires an extra trick. There is a yellow circle on the ground. Interact with it, and you will be teleported behind the red gate near the crystals, next to a save point, a green gate, and a switch. Press the switch to open the route back to the first room.

Ignore the green gate for now. Instead, you’re now able to access the crystals again, swap the yellow for blue, and return to the warp point. You will reappear right next to a now-open blue gate. Behind the gate is a large cavern with some steps to a higher area. Hop up here and find another switch. This opens a red gate you haven’t seen yet.

Use the warp point again and walk back to the furnace and crystals. Send the green crystal in the mine cart this time and walk back to the safe point to see if the green gate is now open. This leads you down a narrow path, past the red gate you just opened and to a switch that opens the exit. Return down the path, and the exit will be to your left.
