One of the most intriguing features that Larian Studios introduced with Baldur’s Gate III is the option to romance certain characters. The companions that join your party are generally romanceable characters that you can cozy up with at night by the campfire.

As for how you romance characters in Baldur’s Gate III, the goal is to make choices that they like. Each character in the game has specific likes and dislikes. For instance, Asterion likes it when you go rogue (literally) and make wild or often chaotic decisions.

On the other hand, someone more noble like Wyll prefers you to be kind towards people in your interactions. The goal is to make enough choices that your preferred romance partner likes that their approval goes up. You then want to talk with them in the camp often. If your approval gets high enough with them, they’ll have unique conversation options.

You want to pick the options that generally sound romantic, such as reciprocating their feelings. You’ll know you’re in a relationship with someone when you talk to them at the camp and there is an option to break off your “relationship.”

You are able to romance any romanceable character in the game, no matter your race, gender, class, or background you have. In addition, you can romance more than one person at a time, but this can create awkward situations and disapproval from the involved parties.

As such, it is best to focus on a single relationship if you can. I also suggest having your targeted crush in your party at all times to have a chance to raise their approval the fastest.

Who Can You Romance in Baldur’s Gate 3?

You are able to romance all of the available companions in Baldur’s Gate III, who are as follows:

  • Asterion
  • Gale
  • Halsin
  • Jaheira
  • Karlach
  • Lae’zel
  • Minsc
  • Minthara
  • Shadowheart
  • Wyll

Baldur’s Gate III is available for PCs and will release for PS5 on September 6, 2023.
