After creating and customizing your own spacecraft in Starfield, you may also want to rename your ship as well. However, you will need to go to a specific location in Bethesda’s space RPG if you want to access the naming feature.

How do I rename my ship in Starfield?

At the very beginning of the game, you are given your first ship called the Frontier. As you progress through the campaign and get a bigger ship in Starfield, you will quickly notice that all spacecraft already come with a pre-determined name. Thankfully, Bethesda has given us a fairly robust customization system, which includes a ship renaming feature.

To rename your ship in Starfield, you need to go to a Spaceport or Ship Service vendor. After speaking to the service NPC, select the “I’d like to view and modify my ships” option. Now that you’ve accessed the ship vendor’s menu, you can rename your ships in Starfield by following the steps below:

  • Press “X” on Xbox to select “Ship Builder” mode.
  • Click the “=” or “Menu” button while in Ship Builder to access “Flight Check.”
  • Select the “Rename Ship” option by pressing the “X” button.

And that’s it! The quickest way to rename your ship in Starfield is to go to the New Atlantis Spaceport. After stepping off your craft, you can find the Ship Services NPC a few feet away next to the Trade Authority kiosk. If your ship was acquired through nefarious means, fear not! You can still rename your stolen ship, but you will need to register it first through the same Ship Service vendor.

Starfield is available now on the Xbox Series X and PC.
