How to Recruit Syd in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Syd is one of the many recruits players can get in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. Unfortunately, he takes a bit to unlock since he has specific requirements for joining the Watch. Thankfully, it can be easy enough to recruit Syd in this JRPG if you know exactly what to do.

How do I recruit Syd in Eiyuden Chronicle?

It is likely most players will meet Syd long before they are able to recruit him. This is because you can find him soon after arriving in the city of Hishahn. He hangs out near the blacksmith shop in the town and you can speak with him, but he only gives you a vague hint at how to get him to join the Watch.

Fortunately, Syd has a simple requirement that players must meet before they can recruit him to their team. All you need to do is ensure your castle town home base has a headquarters leveled up to level three or higher. Once you meet this requirement, head over to Syd and speak with him to recruit him to the party automatically.

How do I upgrade my Headquarters to Level 3 in Eiyuden Chronicle?

The tricky part about recruiting Syd and his workshop to your team in Eiyuden Chronicle is upgrading your headquarters to level three in the first place. Headquarters level two is already a bit difficult at this point in the game due to its requirements, but you need this for level three:

  • 46 allies or more
  • 11,760 headquarters funds
  • 4 Excellent Lacquer

The 46 allies is pretty easy to get at this point in time (I had this requirement met long before even meeting Syd for the first time). However, the headquarters funds is quite a lot. You get some over time, but you will most likely need to head to Caine at the resource depot and sell stuff there. As for the Excellent Lacquer, you can get this is in the final area of the Dappled Forest.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is available right now for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
