As you reach the final region in Unicorn Overlord, you may wonder if you can recruit its leader Sanatio too. It is possible, and you don’t need to do anything special to add him to the Liberation Army.
How do I recruit Sanatio in Unicorn Overlord?

When going through the Albion region Main Quests, you may notice Sanatio behaves a bit differently than the other leaders Alain ends up opposing. As such, it might seem like he may not be eventually on your side. However, it’s all a matter of getting through the storyline mission “The Holy March” at Bisfaine Basilica.
This mission is a bit of a fake-out. It starts with Nigel helping out the Liberation Army, making him seem like a permanent recruit. However, he’s only there to assist for this quest. And you want to rely on that and protect him, as he can make it easier. This is a winding map where you have to follow a specific road through the Enemy Level 36 mission. This is so Nigel has opportunities to “speak” to some of his former soldiers and your forces essentially “guard” a battering ram as it heads toward the locked gate.
There is no “talk” command available when these indicated units come up. Instead, Nigel just needs to get near them. When he does, they will turn to green NPC units you can’t control and won’t fight you.
For the most part, you need to walk along the path, taking over checkpoints and defeating enemies as you go. However, once the battering ram breaks down the gate to the city, Sanatio sends out a flock of angel minions to fight. They’ll specifically target the third-party NPCs Nigel spoke to earlier. You don’t need to protect them in order to recruit Sanatio in Unicorn Overlord (or eventually get Nigel), so keep pressing into the heart of the Bisfaine Basilica.
Defeating Sanatio nets you a Holy Broach, a Papal Crosier, an Idealist’s Handmirror, and the Albion key item. Sanatio will also join your army after the story segments, while Nigel leaves it. Sanatio is a level 38 Featherstaff who arrives equipped with a Steel Staff.
