How to Recruit Maureus in Eiyuden Chronicle

If you want the buffest mage in Eiyuden Chronicle, you should recruit Maureus. However, he only joins if you have an ally with a high MP stat.

How do I recruit Maureus in Eiyuden Chronicle?

Since Maureus is someone who comes up once you finish the Euchrisse area of the game, you may as well go and recruit him while recruiting Isha. You need to head to Mountain Path Homeward for the Cockatrice Egg for that side quest anyways. 

The best way to get Maureus is to enter from the Kyshiri Village side. This is because he’s on the west side of the Mountain Path Homeward. I highlighted his location below.

Now, when I met Maureus, I had Francesca with me. She’d been with me since the start of the game and was at level 34 with total MP. He immediately agreed to join, so it seems like she’s a good option to have around when you speak with him.

Is Maureus good in Eiyuden Chronicle?

As long as you add Maureus to your party knowing he’s a physical DPS unit and not an actual mage, you’re good and he can be handy! His Muscle Boost Magic effect is good for increasing his attack power. His Flawless Defense defense command is also fantastic, since he takes 1/10th damage from enemy attacks when it is used. He also has a Rune of Power equipped when he joins, to bolster his strength further. 

Plus, you can put Maureus in the front row safely. You need to, honestly, since that is his weapon range. However, he has armor and his physical defense is pretty high. So he’ll be fine there.

He does join at level 23 though, so you’ll need to do some leveling to get him up to speed.
