How to unlock first-person mode in Metal Gear Solid

First, you’ll need to make sure you’re playing Metal Gear Solid: Integral on the Master Collection. This is the only version of the game that has the first-person feature. Once you’re playing the right game, you’ll need to do a little bit of unlocking before being able to dive into the 1P View Mode.

To unlock first-person mode in Metal Gear Solid, you must beat the game at least once on any difficulty. Once you’ve cleared the campaign, a new option labeled “1P View Mode” will become accessible within the “special” menu. Selecting the option will begin a new game with first-person play enabled.

Once you’ve begun your playthrough, playing Metal Gear Solid in First-Person is just a button press away. Simply double-tap the triangle button (or the Y and X on Xbox and Switch, respectively), and you’ll change the camera to first-person. You will now be able to sneak and even fight in first-person view.

It should be noted that while most of the game allows for the first-person experience, specific segments force you to return to the third-person camera. These instances typically include scripted sequences and special events, such as the rappelling segment.

While the first-person mode is undeniably fun and offers a fresh perspective on Metal Gear Solid, it might not be the definitive way to experience the game. Nevertheless, it’s well worth dedicating a few hours to this mode to explore the beloved classic from an entirely new angle.

The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 will launch on October 24, 2023, across various platforms, including the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
