Anyone who was around for the infamous Raubahn situation in Stormblood at its launch will know the value of this welcome new addition in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail. There is now a setting to hide other players when you are near an NPC or quest marker in FFXIV Dawntrail. Here’s how to activate it.
How to Hide Other Players in FFXIV Dawntrail
Hiding other players is a new setting you can enable within the game options itself. It is available to everyone with the release of patch 7.0, not just the players who own the new Dawntrail expansion. If you want to make it much easier to see the quest objectives, especially in congested areas, this is the setting for you.
To enable the ability to hide other players, you’ll want to do the following:
- Navigate to the main menu
- Pick Character Configuration (it is not in the system menu for some reason)
- Choose Control Settings
- Go down to find Quest Progression Settings where you can enable it
Hide Players Different Options Explained
There are a few different options that are available for the new hide other players setting in FFXIV Dawntrail. These will work for some and not for others, so enable and disable what you like as you please. Here are the four different options:
- Hide nearby players when close to quest NPCs
- Additionally hide party members
- Hide nearby players when interacting with quest NPCs
- Additionally hide party members
Basically, it starts with deciding whether or not to only hide other players while near a quest marker or to also hide them while speaking or interacting with the NPC. In addition, you can also hide your party members if you want. This is a great option if you still want to see your pals but hide everyone else in these moments.
Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail is available right now for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
