When the 1.2 update for Hello Kitty Island Adventure arrived, it also added the ability to take an empty cabin and make it your own house. However, you can’t automatically go up to any repaired home and make it your own. You first need to go through a newly added questline, which appears after you’ve unlocked the ability to repair visitor cabins, over a two-day period to get the new ability. Here’s how it works.

This is actually a two-part affair that takes place over two real-world days! If you’ve updated your game to 1.2, then you’ll get the option to get your own cabin in Hello Kitty Island Adventure via the “Home Sweet Home” questline. Part 1 should be available immediately after the update, provided you’ve already started to establish yourself on the island. Chococat will be with My Melody near the Cozy Islands fast travel point, where you built your first visitor cabin during the tutorial.

Here’s the exact spot on the map.

After you talk with the two of them and Cinnamoroll, Chococat will explain he needs a day. Cinnamoroll will ask if you want to visit a cozy place he found for himself while you wait. You’ll then need to head to the Gemstone Town area of the map. Since Cinnamoroll’s cozy crystal spot is an awkward position, it’s sort of between the Oasis and Icy Peak Entrance fast travel points. I recommend going with Icy Peak Entrance, because then you can walk west and drop from above to Cinnamoroll’s perch.

Here are those maps in my two screenshots:

Talk with Cinnamoroll there, and that ends part 1 of the quest.

When you load up the game the next calendar day, you’ll be able to kick off part 2 of the quest by talking to Chococat again. He’s right near the Gemstone Town fast travel point. Talk to him there. After that, you’ll meet with him and My Melody at the Cozy Islands fast travel point near the cabin. You’ll need three Strawberry Crates and 10 Sticks to finish “Home Sweet Home Part 2.”

Once that’s done, you can approach any repaired cabin in Hello Kitty Island Adventure to make it into your own house. Just select the “Move In” option when you approach a repaired cabin’s sign and press the hammer button.

This is a very easy process. Go to your house in the game. Instead of going inside, approach the sign in front of it. It will note it is your cabin in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Press the hammer button that appears when you approach it. Tap the red “Move Out” button. You can then move out and into a different house.

What are some good locations for your own house in Hello Kitty Island Adventure?

Well, to be honest, I only have two recommendations. One is to go with a region in the game that you like. The main Resort Plaza hub is a very typical beachfront region. The Spooky Forest cabins look like haunted houses. The Gemstone Town area has a wild west vibe. Mount Hothead is an active volcano. There are also some underwater homes near the Comedy Club. While I don’t like Hangyodon, I liked the aesthetic of the ocean cabins and chose to pick a home over there.

What I think is a good idea is to make sure your own house in Hello Kitty Island Adventure is near a fast travel mailbox. This way you can quickly get there to do some decorating. It also makes it easier to remember where you are. While some of the latest updates ensures the map will show which cabins are established and open, as of 1.2 there’s no special icon noting which cabin is yours.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is available on iOS and Mac devices via Apple Arcade.
