If you’re wondering how to get to Kitakami in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet if you have the Teal Mask DLC, the game gives you the new quest right away to send you on that trip. As long as you purchased the add-on, Game Freak and Nintendo make it easy to go on the new adventure. But just in case you need some help, here’s where to go to start this journey.
How to reach Kitakami in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Well, the first thing you need to do is make sure you buy The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansion pass. That’s a $34.99 purchase. You’ll get the version specific to your version of the game. There is also a $94.99 bundle that includes one version of the game and that pass you can get, if you don’t own the game yet.
If you do own a copy of either Pokemon Scarlet or Violet, then the game will start the process of showing you how to get to Kitakami after you download and install patch 2.0.1. Upon loading a save file, you’ll get a phone call on your Rotom Phone. Your homeroom teacher Jacq will call to let you know about the yearly school trip that’s about to begin. He lets you know you were one of the few students picked to go on this year’s trip and that you need to report to the academy’s entrance hall in Mesagoza.
Here’s are two screenshots I took showing exactly where to go. Once you’re inside the school, you’ll see the new NPC Ms. Briar with an orange dialogue box over her head signaling she is who you’re there to meet.
This conversation and introduction is also when you’ll get the Kitakami Pokedex.
Once you finish talking to Briar and Jacq, you’ll have the option to talk to Briar again and let her know you’re ready to go. After you do, you’ll learn a bit more about her ambitions, see the other students joining you from your academy, and see a proper “The Teal Mask” title screen. You’ll then be at a bus stop in the new area just outside Mossui Town.
How do you get back to Paldea from Kitakami in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?
Once you arrived in Kitakami and are about to head to Mossui Town for the first time at Briar’s request, you can open up the map again. This new region is on an entirely different map. So when you’re on the map screen, you’ll need to press the left or right trigger buttons (L or R) to swap between the two maps. You can then fast-travel as usual to places you’ve been before by selecting the spot and pressing the button to confirm you’d like to go there.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is available for the Nintendo Switch, as is the Teal Mask DLC.
