Where to find Grate Guy’s Casino in Mario RPG

First, you’ll need the Bright Card to get in. Backtrack to Booster Tower to find Knife Guy hanging around juggling. Here, he challenges you to watch his juggling and guess which hand the yellow ball ends up in. However, this isn’t strictly a guessing game. You can technically see where the ball ends up. Either way, guess right 12 times, and the Bright Card is yours.

A word of warning! The Bright Card sells for 777 coins, which may be enticing. However, selling the card means never returning to the casino since you cannot get another. Hold on to it until you’re completely done playing around there. The Toad at Merrymore Inn will also buy the card for 10 Frog Coins. While he will sell it back to you and charge you 15 Frog Coins. Restocking fees, I guess.

With the Bright Card secured, head to Bean Valley. Find the area with the five warp pipes that should be close to the center. Defeat the Pirahna Plant sitting in the pipe closest to the top of the screen and then head down it. Once at the bottom, you’ll find a Golden Chain Chomp. Beat it and then go to the left corner of the room. Now jump, and you should hear a noise. Jump three times, and a platform will appear under you. Jump up to the new exit from the platform, and you’ll find yourself at Grate Guy’s Casino.

Grate Guy’s Casino has three games on offer you can play for prizes. a question block slot game and memory card game can be played for various items. Unlike the SNES original, these games are free to play, so you can earn a handful of useful items here.

However, the most important game available at Grate Guy’s Casino is “Look the Other Way.” You play this one by simply looking in a direction, trying to look opposite of where Grate Guy is pointing. This is a simple and silly game. However, winning it 100 times is the only way to get the Star Egg.

The Star Egg deals 100 damage flat to all enemies every time it’s used. However, getting it this late in the game means you have to decide if that’s worth it to you. Winning 100 times is massive and will take a long time to achieve. Thankfully, the wins don’t have to be in a row, or this would be essentially impossible.

Super Mario RPG is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
