The Dank Crypt is one of the first optional dungeons you can tackle in Baldur’s Gate 3. It is available early on in the Wilderness area of Act 1, just east of the Druid Grove. When you first arrive here, you’ll encounter some foes trying to steal the treasure. You can persuade them to leave or kill them. Whatever you do, you can enter the temple-like structure through the front door and then deal with the guy inside to start the Dank Crypt.

How to Complete the Dank Crypt in Baldur’s Gate 3

Once inside the Dank Crypt in Baldur’s Gate 3, your first goal is to loot around this area and then enter the next area when you’re ready. There are a lot of bandits around here, so be sure to use ranged attacks and avoid the fire when possible. After taking them out, approach the sarcophagus at the back of the large room.

There is a trap here that you might be able to notice beforehand. If you don’t, open up the sarcophagus, get the key and rewards in there, and then press the button on the nearby pillar to stop the fire trap. There is a room next to this one with more treasure for you to find.

Your next goal, though, should be to go through the heavy oak door on the northern side of the crypt. When you go through here, you’ll find a button in the northwestern corner of the room. You can activate it to take on the skeletons here and access the next area, but you should loot all their armor and weapons first. This makes them easier to fight.

After beating them, go inside the newly open area and interact with the large sarcophagus. This will let you meet Withers, who is an NPC who does valuable tasks like letting you change your character at the campsite. He will join your camp even if you don’t meet him here, but you miss out on some valuable backstory and items. You can then leave the Dank Crypt with it now completed.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for PS5 and PC. It will release for Xbox Series X/S sometime in 2023.
