The Lucky Jewel in Super Mario RPG is a unique item that guarantees you are always lucky in battle. Here is how to get the Lucky Jewel in Mario RPG and how to use it to double your experience points or coins.
Where to get Lucky Jewel in Super Mario RPG
The Lucky Jewel can be found at the Moleville shop in Super Mario RPG and can be purchased for 100 coins. To get there, pause your game and select the Map menu. Next, select the Moleville Region and select the “Moleville” fast travel point to instantly warp to the city.
Once in Moleville, look for the metal shack with a spinning Mushroom logo on its roof. Enter the shop and speak to the blue-headed Toad NPC that is located in the left corner of the store near the entrance.
The treasure-hunting Toad will offer you the Lucky Jewel for 100 coins. Simply progress through his dialogue and then select the “it’s a deal!” option to obtain the item. And that’s it! Pretty simple, right? Depending on where you are in the campaign, though, you may need to progress through the story before the Toad starts offering up the item.
How to use Lucky Jewel
To use the Lucky Jewel, you will need to first enter battle with an enemy. Once in combat, click the X button on your controller to access the item menu. You will then need to press the R button to scroll over to the last section of your items inventory, where you will find the Lucky Jewel in the final slot.
After using the Lucky Jewel, your character will immediately achieve “Lucky” status, which means you are guaranteed to get a chance to double your experience points or coins after battle. Once your fight is over, a message will pop up that says, “Wanna double your coins?”. Select “I’ll do it!”
You will now trigger a Yoshi mini-game, where you must guess which egg he is in. If you guess where Yoshi is located, you will get either double Experience Points or double coins. Using the Lucky Jewel in battle guarantees you get this mini-game every time.
Unfortunately, the Lucky Jewel is an item that can only be used a handful of times. After a certain amount of use, the special item will disappear. It should be noted you will also need to obtain the Lucky Jewel to get the Toad NPC in Moleville to sell you the Mystery Egg item for Peach in Mario RPG.
