In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the Champion’s Tunic was Link’s most iconic piece of clothing. He even sported it on the official box art. It’s back in the sequel, hidden behind a secret puzzle. Here’s how to get the Champion’s Tunic back for Link in Tears of the Kingdom.

How do I find the Champion’s Tunic in Tears of the Kingdom?

The Champion’s Tunic, known as the Champion’s Leathers in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, is hidden in Hyrule Castle. Yes, that’s the one floating in the sky. Make your way up to it, and then enter the upper window at the top of the main tower. Here, you’ll see a large hole in the floor that goes down two floors.

Glide down the hole using your Paraglider so you don’t take fall damage to arrive in the Sanctum. If you played Breath of the Wild, you’d recognize this room as where you fought Calamity Ganon. But luckily, there are no enemies here this time.

Go up the stairs in here, and you’ll reach a throne with two unlit braziers in front of it. I freaked out when I first saw this, because I just knew it was going to be a classic The Legend of Zelda puzzle, but I had no idea what was waiting for me. Light the braziers, and a hatch behind the throne will open revealing a treasure chest.

Open the chest, and you’ll obtain the Champion’s Leathers. Its armor level is only +5 when you first get ahold of it, but it can be upgraded at a Great Fairy if you want to rock it around Hyrule.

How to reach floating Hyrule Castle in Tears of the Kingdom

If you read the first part and thought, “Wait, how do I reach the floating Hyrule Castle?” you’ll be happy to know it’s easier than you’d think. After unlocking the first tower, the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower, as part of the main story and obtaining the Glider, head to the launch pad and let it throw you into the sky.

Pull out your Paraglider and glide toward Hyrule Castle as soon as you can. You’ll need stamina-enhancing food and elixirs to reach it, so ensure you come prepared. When you get low on stamina, consume food or an elixir midair to boost your stamina wheel until you reach the floating castle.

I could do this as soon as I unlocked the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower around three hours into my adventure. So as long as you cook stamina meals and elixirs, you can grab the Champion’s Tunic in Tears of the Kingdom pretty early on. After that, all you’ll need is a repaired Master Sword to go with it.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available right now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
